Thandaung
Thandaung Hill Station, which lies in the southern part of Myanmar, is being built like
PyinOoLwin and Kalaw Hill Stations for holiday-makers. It is convenient to go on
holiday to Thandaung on completion of both the uphill and downhill roads, which
are now under renovation. Thandaung can be reached from Taungoo by car about one
hour. Due to its pleasant location and weather conditions, Thandaung used to be
a hill resort in the past.
The town of Thandaung was designated as a Hill
Station by the British colonial government because of its cool climate, verdant
surroundings and pleasant and restful atmosphere where British government
officials went to escape the oppressive heat of Yangon during their summer
vacation. It is a good place for rest and recreation not only for Myanmar people
but also for international tourists. |
