Putao Surrounded by Natural Scenic Beauty

Kachin State is situated in northern and north-eastern parts of Myanmar and abounds in mountain
ranges. This region is full of natural beauty, mountains, streams and rivers.
One of the 12 biggest rivers in the world,the Ayeyarwaddy is formed by the
confluence of MayKha and Malika Rivers in Kachin State. The extreme northern
city of Myanmar is Putao. It is 218 miles north of Myitkyina. Putao has been
seat of government for ages. It is a well-planned city.
If you look to the west, north and east of Putao, you can see snow-capped
mountains, which are over 10,000 feet. These snow-capped mountains are the
eastern most ranges of the Himalayas. The area of Putao District is 11,916 sq
miles and it is 1,342 feet above sea level.

Mostly Pawang, Lisu, Khamti Shan and Jingphaw nationals live in Putao and Bamar
and Kachin nationals also live there. There, it is cool the whole year round and
there are many varieties of citrus fruit orchards. Putao market is always busy
doing brisk business in regional products and produce such as vegetables,
traditional food, hand-made clothing, medicinal plants and roots and fruits.
Another noted place in Putao is Khakaborazi National Park. You can study flora
and fauna of home to Myanmar. There, you can also study the orchid displays with
a collection of over 50 local orchid species.

When you arrive at Putao, the place you should visit is Mulashidi village 8
miles from Putao. On the way to the village, there are lovely traditional houses
along the road. Mostly Lisu nationals live in Mulashidi village. The
significance of the village is Mulashidi suspension bridge built over Mula
River. It is 200 feet long and 6 feet wide and made of steel cables. Water
flowing in the Mula River under the bridge is clear and cool because of melting
ice from the mountains.
