4 Days - 3 Nights (Phnom Penh - Rattanakiri)
Day 1 - Phnom Penh - Rattanakiri
We tranfer to Phnom Penh Airport for the
flight to Ban Lung, provincial capital of
Ratanakiri. After lunch in town, we travel
to the crystal clear waters of the Yeak Loam
crater lake, surrounded by lush jungle.
Working in close partnership with
community-based ecotourism project DRIVE, we
learn about the life of the Tompuon people
on a walk with a local tribal guide. We walk
around the shores of stunning Yeak Loam Lake
before walking through forest to visit a
Tompuon farms and their nearby village.
Dinner and accommodation at Ban Lung
Day 2 - Rattanakiri
We visit some remote gem mines, passing
through an ethnic Tompuon village on the
way, as well as a beautiful seven-tiered
waterfall nearby. We enjoy a picnic lunch at
the waterfall. We return to Ban Lung where
guests can explore the local market or
return to Yeak Lom lake for an afternoon
dip.
Day 3 - Rattanakiri
We visit the village of Voen Sai on the San
River and take a boat trip to a minority
village where there is a traditional
cemetery, complete with carved effigies. We
also visit a Chinese village that has
existed here for about 200 years and looks
like a slice of rural China.There are also
many Lao living along the riverbank and we
pass through one of their villages here.
After lunch by the river, we visit a Kreung
village before returning to Ban Lung for
overnight.
Day 4 - Rattanakiri - Phnom Penh
In the morning, we visit the nearby
waterfall of Chaa Ong before transferring to
the airport for the flight back to Phnom
Penh.
