Balloon Over Bagan
Floating over thousand year old pagodas and the
mighty Ayeyarwaddy River, as the sun sinks slowly behind
distant mountains.
The magic of Bagan has inspired visitors to Myanmar for
centuries. One of the most remarkable sights in Asia,
ancient temples dot the landscape as far as the eye can see.
Now "Balloons over Bagan" affords visitors a unique
opportunity to see this ancient kingdom, as it never has
been seen before.
Our sunrise and sunset champagne flights take off daily from
October through to the end of March.
The balloon is guided by gentle winds not exceeding
15mph, allowing passengers a serene and peaceful bird's-eye
view of ancient temples drifting by. Using his skill the
pilot is able to guide the balloon to a gentle landing where
our friendly crew and celebratory glass of champagne will be
on hand.

Commercial passenger ballooning has the best safety record
of all forms of air transport. "Balloons over Bagan's"
pilots and technicians are qualified and registered in the
UK. Our balloons, which are built to the highest standards
of the British aerospace industry, are provided by Cameron
Balloons Limited, the world's largest manufacturer of high
quality balloons.
Each balloon is insured for three millions
dollars, third party, and passenger liability. "Balloons
over Bagan" is a private Myanmar Company that is committed
to the preservation of Bagan and its environment. A small
contribution from each flight will be donated to community
programs that directly benefit the local population.
The town of Bagan (formerly spelled as "Pagan"), central Myanmar (Burma),
situated on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River and approximately 90 miles (145
km) southwest of Mandalay.
The site of an old capital city of Myanmar,
Pagan is a pilgrimage centre and contains ancient Buddhist shrines that have
been restored and renovated and are in current use. Ruins of other shrines
and pagodas cover a wide area. An earthquake on July 8, 1975, severely damaged
more than half of the important structures and destroyed many of them. The
village also has a school for lacquer ware, for which the region is noted.
Pagan's importance lies in its heritage rather than its present. It was first
built probably in AD 849 and, from the 11th century to the end of the 13th, was
the capital of a region roughly the size of modern Myanmar. In 1287,Bagan was
overrun by the Mongols during their wide-ranging conquests, and it never
recovered its position, though a little building continued on Buddhist shrines.
